Fifteen arrested in Vermont drug sweep

BRATTLEBORO, Vermont - Eight Vermont and New Hampshire residents pleaded innocent Monday to various drug charges.

The eight were among 15 people arrested Friday after a six-week Vermont State Police investigation into heroin and cocaine trafficking in Vermont and New Hampshire.

Sarah Fisher, 20, of Groton; Betsiada Vargas-Garcia, 20, of Brattleboro; Christa Harty, 18, of Brattleboro; and Tina Miller, 29, of Keene, N.H., pleaded innocent at their arraignments in Vermont District Court in Brattleboro. Two juveniles were also charged with one count each of sale of cocaine and heroin.

Also charged were Erica Whitney, 22; Vicky Hooper, 38; Craig Hooper, 30; and Nicholas Wilbur, 23, all of Winchester, N.H. They pleaded innocent.

Tyran Andrews, 21, of Springfield, Mass., is facing a charge of selling cocaine. Andrews is being held in Vermont on an unrelated charge.

Police are still seeking Brian Erunski, 23, and Tim Schill, 24, of New Hampshire.

The Vermont arrests and warrants stem from one or more informants working with the Vermont State Police, according to court documents. In each case, the informant was outfitted with a body wire and contacted the suspects to buy either heroin or cocaine.

Members of the Brattleboro, Vermont Police Department, New Hampshire State Police and the Winchester Police Department participated in the investigation.

In District Court on Monday, Harty, Craig Hooper, Wilbur, Miller and Whitney were held on $5,000 cash bail. Fisher and Vargas-Garcia were released on conditions.

One of the juveniles charged is a 16-year-old male Brattleboro resident. The boy was released with conditions into the custody of his mother.
